Ode of Conquest

The Jingkang Incident brought the Northern Song era to an end and ushered in the humiliating chapter of the Southern Song.

The emperor fled south, sending countless commoners into a panicked retreat.

The policy of favoring civil officials over military men left battle-hardened generals constrained on all sides.

Defeat without a fight made men of ambition shake their heads and sigh.

Against this backdrop, Wang Zheng transmigrates and becomes one of the refugees fleeing south.

He had thought that no matter how weak the Southern Song was, it would still be prosperous, and that no matter how willing the court was to compromise, it would have some limits.

But only after living through it himself did he realize that in these troubled times, ordinary people were worth less than pigs and dogs; the wealth of the Southern Song belonged only to officials and powerful landowners; the court's compromises had no limits at all; and men of ambition were persecuted one after another. The civilization of Huaxia was teetering on the brink of collapse…

At last, Wang Zheng came to his senses.

This rotten court and this land ravaged by war must be decisively and utterly shattered before new, brilliant fireworks can shine above the ruins.
