A Week of Fantasies

Wang Xi is an ordinary office worker in the city. Over the course of a week, he uses imagined victories to comfort himself whenever he faces difficulties, helping him cope with his unreasonable boss and unfair situations. He has a heart that hates injustice, but never dares to act on it. Does Wang Xi seem a little familiar to you?

On Monday, his company terminates the contract of a pregnant colleague. It is a rough day, but at least he can have a drink with his good buddies. On Tuesday, after dealing with his boss, Wang Xi enjoys a pleasant end to an awkward dinner with his blind date. On Wednesday, his mother is hospitalized, leaving him and his father scrambling to manage everything. On Thursday, he runs into his boss’s wife beating up her husband’s mistress, but still believes his own goddess would never do such a thing. He also meets the family of a cancer patient who has come to Beijing for treatment. On Friday, he is called back to the office for a meeting, even though he was supposed to spend the day caring for his mother. He also sees the printer the company bought after being swindled, which makes him realize that not everyone has a smooth ride. On Saturday, overtime ruins his plans, and as an only child, he has no choice but to ask a friend to pick up his mother. On Sunday, his Beijing drifter tenant wants to move out, and he suddenly realizes that his parents are growing old. All of this catches Wang Xi completely off guard. Days off always fly by. Tomorrow is Monday again, and life goes on in the same daily cycle.
