Your Majesty, the Empress Wants You All to Herself

“Your Majesty, the Empress burned all the green-head plaques.” “Your Majesty, the Empress talked all the newly selected palace maidens into leaving.” “Your Majesty, the Empress made all the consorts fail their exams.” “Your Majesty, the Empress... Your Majesty, aren't you going to do something?” “Xiao Yezi, why don't you tell me what I should do?” The emperor looked up from his memorials, his eyes filled with fond amusement. “But, Your Majesty, the Empress wants to be the only one you dote on...” Xiao Yezi fidgeted and muttered, “But the Empress used to ignore you completely.” In her previous life, Gu Qingqing was forced into the palace as empress. Thinking she was a substitute, she treated the tyrant of an emperor with extreme cruelty. Reborn, Gu Qingqing knew the truth: she was the one he had always cherished in his heart. In this life, she would have him, no matter what. She would have him completely. As for the consorts in the harem... “Little sister, you've got to enjoy life while you can. Why waste your time waiting on His Majesty? Is the empress's mahjong table no good, or is the food not tasty?” “Can someone of my low rank go too?” a new consort asked timidly. “Of course. All-you-can-eat, all-you-can-drink, and all the fun you can handle, for just a hundred taels a day. What a bargain!” “Really?” The new consort's eyes lit up. “Outrageous! What have you done to this harem? Get rid of all these useless distractions, like playing mahjong and eating hot pot!” The empress dowager was furious, so Gu Qingqing had no choice but to comply. “By Her Majesty the Empress Dowager's command, the consorts must not indulge in frivolous amusements. Therefore, I have invited the Junior Preceptor to teach my sisters. There will be an exam, and anyone who fails will be fined.” And so the consorts wailed in despair.
