The towers soar, as if painted in a scroll. The cold moon lingers, like frost flowers hanging overhead. In a world torn by chaos, wind whips and rain wears all away; No one knows the bygone days have flowed away like water. Jade skin and fingers pluck the chilling strings, Yet no one gathers up this fragrant, sorrowing soul. Bright eyes glance, Pearl-white teeth part, And I invite you to hear this sorrowful song. A vow of life and death, now lost to us both, As pipes and strings send heartbreak to some distant shore. Years slip by, but where can I go? Let the old tales of a former dynasty vanish with the river, leaving no trace.
