Did the Empress Have Her Fortune Told Today?

The once quiet and gloomy eldest daughter of the Bai family fell into the water. When she woke up, her wits had opened: she could divine the future and tell fortunes, and began setting up a fortune-telling stall by the gate every day. Bai Xuanyin said, “Young sir, you’ll suffer a flood after walking ten zhang.” The man scoffed. “There’s no lake or sea here, not even a moat. What flood? You’re a fraud!” He had barely walked ten zhang when, splash, a basin of wash water came pouring down over his head, drenching him like a drowned rat. Bai Xuanyin smiled faintly. “Back in the day, I was known as the founding ancestor of celestial masters. Do you think I earned that reputation by bragging? Wait, young sir, I can see that your destiny is exceptionally noble. Your future is sure to be limitless!” Xiao Fengqi turned around. “Are you talking about me?” Everyone burst out laughing. Who in the capital didn’t know that Prince Zhao was cursed with baleful energy and born unlucky? This time, Miss Bai had really gone blind! Later, when Xiao Fengqi ascended the throne and offered his empire as the bride price to marry Bai Xuanyin and make her empress, everyone was humbled and wept: “I’m the one who was blind! Your Majesty, are you telling fortunes today? Please, tell mine!”
