The Hanfu Shopkeeper

In modern China, hanfu has finally entered the mainstream. Su Wan remembers that just ten years ago, hanfu was still in an awkward position: people wearing traditional outfits on the street would be mocked as opera performers, while those with intangible cultural heritage on their heads were seen as having a “head full of chicken feathers”... Ten years later, she had become the most famous hanfu shopkeeper, yet she settled down to study hand embroidery and lived like a fairy. This book explores how young people can balance their choices when the public looks down on them, making sure they can earn a living while building a career that promotes traditional culture. Promoting traditional culture is everyone’s responsibility.
