A Blessed Child at Home: Will the Scoundrel Dad Take Up Farming?

Hua Panpan transmigrates into a book as the cannon-fodder daughter of Hua Zhifu, a scumbag minister who abandons his wife and daughter in pursuit of wealth and status.

To escape the fate of having her mother abandoned and becoming cannon fodder herself, Hua Panpan works hard to find every opportunity for Hua Zhiyuan to toil. All she wants is for Minister Hua to stay away from books, give up the imperial exams, and live an ordinary, happy life with her delicate and lovely mother until they grow old together.

Hua Zhiyuan has just passed the provincial examination. He returns home, barely has time to sit down, and his daughter drags him out to the fields, pointing at a stretch of golden rice and telling him to harvest it. Hua Zhiyuan clutches a sickle, stunned by the endless sea of rice. He farms all the family's land himself. When did they get such a huge new field, and why doesn't he know about it?

“Panpan, we don't need the money anymore. How about hiring people to harvest the fields?”

Hua Panpan looks at him in exasperation. “Dad, our family has been farmers for eight generations. You haven't even become an official yet, and you've already forgotten your roots?”

Under his daughter's scornful gaze, Hua Zhiyuan swings his sickle with tears in his eyes.

Watching her father, now a successful provincial graduate, toil in the fields until his handsome face turns slick and dark from the sun, Hua Panpan nods with satisfaction. If she doesn't keep her scumbag dad in line, her status won't be secure. His hard work today will guarantee her mother's life in the future. Once he finishes this field, there are another two qing of rice paddies she just bought in the neighboring village waiting to be harvested.
