The Remarkable Guardian

The South Heavenly Gate has fallen. Three hundred thousand celestial soldiers have been killed or wounded, and the two sons of Jin and Mu have died in battle. Three of the Four Heavenly Kings are gone. Li Jing held his already cracked Exquisite Pagoda, a bitter smile on his lips.

Far away, the guards of the Lingxiao Palace, led by the Jade Emperor with the Heaven-Slaying Sword in hand, were now the last line of defense in the heavenly realm.

After invading for ten thousand years, the three alien races had finally broken through to the South Heavenly Gate, the entrance to Blue Star. At that very moment, the demon realm, suppressed for a thousand years by the Buddha after he had expended the cultivation of every Buddha in the Ten Thousand Buddha Temple, suddenly flared back to life.

The realm was beset by threats within and without, and catastrophe loomed.

Yet the six holiest beings of Heaven, once the most powerful forces in the Three Realms and led by the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, had been stripped of their immortal powers a hundred years ago for offending the Jade Emperor and banished to the human world.

Now Wukong sold houses at a real estate agency. Yang Jian served in the army. Old Zhu sold pork, while Old Sha dealt in sand and gravel. Ao Lie, the little white dragon, traded in seafood, while Nezha simply idled away his days among mortals.

With calamity at hand, will the six holy ones return?

They once had a grudge against Heaven, and now they are fed up with life in the human world. They once wanted to become Buddhas and protect all living beings; now they want to become demons for the sake of one person.

What will the Great Sage choose? What will the six holy ones choose?
