A Lovely Husband in the South

[Skip ahead and start reading at Chapter 42. That’s where the real story begins; the earlier chapters can be treated as extras.] Everyone says the eldest princess grew up in the mountains, knows next to nothing, has no talent, virtue, or beauty, and is nothing but a rude, uncultured country woman. But one day... A: “Didn’t you say you’d hired a tutor?” Si Nan: “I did. My master taught me everything. I never hired a tutor.” B: “Didn’t you say no one had ever taught you music, chess, calligraphy, or painting?” Si Nan: “That’s right. I taught myself. Though Feng Liang, Nan Yi, Su Xizhi, and Lan Shu all gave me pointers.” “...” C: “Didn’t you say you only knew a little of each calligraphy style? Why are you so good at all of them?” “But my master says my calligraphy and paintings are as unbearable to look at as I am...” A certain master: “Then what about when you said you’d never get married?” Si Nan glanced at the “frail and sickly” man beside her and replied helplessly, “He said he’d marry me.” One-on-one romance, no angst, doting and satisfying.
