The Empress Wants to Run Away Every Day

She transmigrates into the role of Qianlong’s second empress, and her originally tragic life suddenly takes off. As empress, isn’t it wonderful to feast on delicacies? Isn’t it wonderful to have people waiting on you day and night? Who needs the emperor’s favor? Consort Yi looks pitiful: “Your Majesty, the Empress made me kneel in Yikun Palace. My knees are red and swollen...” Lady E sobs: “Your Majesty, the Empress made me practice frog jumps. I can’t even get out of bed now...” The consorts all complain: “Your Majesty, the Empress makes us drink tonics every day. Now I throw up everything I eat...” The scummy dragon comes to demand an explanation: “Does the Empress mean to dismiss my entire harem and make me dote on you alone?” Ying Yun fidgets with her fingers. “Uh... it’s all a misunderstanding... D-don’t come any closer...” Ying Yun: “Shall I help you choose some new consorts?” The scummy dragon: “No.” Ying Yun: “How about a trip south to find beauties?” The scummy dragon: “No.” Ying Yun: “Then what do you want?” The scummy dragon: “I want you.” Ying Yun: “I’m in my thirties. I’m getting on in years.” The scummy dragon: “I like women who are past their prime.” “...Past my prime?!” Ying Yun looks at him with disdain. “Go love your sister!” Of the thirty-six stratagems, the best is to flee. Goodbye, you scummy dragon.
