Dian Cui, a lame maid, should have been the treasured jewel of a wealthy family, but she ended up in the countryside, forced into servitude as a maid and concubine, and ultimately died a tragic death by the roadside! Given a second life, she wishes only for a peaceful existence: to heal her leg, find her birth parents, and pass on and expand the art of hairpin inlay.
A once-prosperous family’s tutor, arrogant about his talent yet unable to find an outlet for it, can barely afford three meals a day and is forced to depend on others. Then, in one stroke, he passes the imperial examinations and becomes the top scholar, eventually rising to Grand Tutor of the court! Yet the student he is proudest of is the young woman who once brought him a bowl of braised intestines when they were young. Now she is wealthy beyond measure, and his “Dian Cui Madam”!
The first time I read the novel, I was angry. The author's writing was so real that it was easy to get involved in the plot. Forget it that the eldest young master has intellectual problems, this old lady is annoying. She knew that Gui Chuyu was taking Dian Cui's place to frame Dian Cui, but she still let her be the eldest lady. Dian Cui couldn't really recognize her ancestors and return to the clan. It was so wronged. The old lady is the most annoying in the whole drama. Please get off the show immediately.
