Sweet First Love

[Ding! Reminder from No. 7 High School’s top class: Have you studied today?] Class One, Senior Year, at No. 7 High School has two top-tier academic stars. One is Lu Huaizhou, the undisputed king of No. 7 High, the top student in the grade who has never been surpassed. Lu Huaizhou is handsome, cool-tempered, and laid-back. He’s good at everything, a true favorite of heaven in everyone’s eyes. The other is Jiang Wan, the grade’s second-place student, always crushed by Lu. Jiang Wan is beautiful, sweet, and innocent. She works hard, strives to improve, and is popular with everyone, yet Lu Huaizhou always picks on her. Others stuck up for Jiang Wan: “Top Student Lu openly bullies his biggest rival. He’s not gentle or magnanimous at all!” On the night of the college entrance exams, during their farewell dinner, many people cried. Even their homeroom teacher hid off to the side to wipe away tears. But Lu Huaizhou only smiled, cornering Jiang Wan against the wall as if he were being petulant. “Just one hug.” - Years after graduation, Jiang Wan still remembered that afternoon in early summer. The classroom was quiet, and sunlight streamed in through the window. The usually rebellious boy blushed and awkwardly slipped her a little note. The handwriting on it was carefree and beautiful: “Whenever I see you, my heart brims with joy and can’t stop leaping. You must be the source of all things cute, my little penguin.” The boy who had dazzled her youth seemed to have poured all his tenderness into those words. Time passed, but the warmth remained as it had always been. 2020.10.20
