I Picked Up a Fox to Guard My Stronghold

On the day a nine-tailed fire fox was to undergo its tribulation, her own twin sister plotted against her. Unable to withstand the final thunderbolt from the heavens, she used her last breath to pour her soul into a dying young woman by the river. The once-glorious fire fox died in an instant, while the formerly foolish girl came back to life. When she opened her eyes again, she was no longer herself. Everything had settled, and everything was beginning anew. Being reborn defied the laws of heaven. To evade heavenly punishment, she swore to hide the truth from heaven, earth, and all living things. But then she was found by the mysterious master of the mountain, who learned every secret that could mean the difference between life and death. “Human, would you be willing to keep this secret for me?” “What do I get out of it?” “I'll help you gain wealth and prestige, and unite the world under your rule.” “Material things are useless to me.” “Then what do you want?” “I lack neither money nor land. The only thing I'm missing is someone to warm my bed...” “How dare you!” “Someone help! There's a little fox spirit here who escaped heavenly punishment...” “Husband, the bed is warm. Hurry up and get in!” “No matter. If demons stand in our way, I'll kill them; if gods stand in our way, I'll slay them. You are mine. Stay behind me, and I will keep you safe and at peace for the rest of your life.”
