I Pluck Pear Blossoms for the Fair-Haired Man

One spring, Yue Qianzhu, daughter of the Marquis of Huaizhou, disobeyed her father and went out drinking. There, she helped a young man who couldn't afford to pay his bill. After that, she came to collect from him every day. From then on, her joys and sorrows were for him, her life and death for him.

Xia Muchu, the new king of Qian, came to Huaizhou for a visit. Fresh from the battlefield, he wore his red robes with an air of murderous menace. Only when he saw her did his face turn childishly innocent.

But an imperial edict arranging a marriage shattered the beautiful promise they had made to spend their lives together.

Overnight, Yue Qianzhu lost her family and vanished without a trace.

Xia Muchu lost his closest kin and three thousand soldiers. Badly wounded and unable to rise, he was forever changed.

Four years later, Yue Qianzhu returned disguised as a man. She joined the army as a cook, planning to go to the capital and clear the Marquis of Huaizhou's name. She never expected to end up in the army of the man she had once loved, and their tangled history began anew.

Xia Muchu had long since become the most powerful vassal king in Qiyue, commanding armies and keeping the Nine Provinces in awe. Yet even he never expected that seeing an old acquaintance would stir his heart.

“Among a hundred flowers blooming together, I pluck only the pear blossom to give to my pale beloved.”

“Yue Qianzhu, how dare you show your face here!”
