Building a Fence

Each of us has at least one wall in our hearts. Unseen, it keeps us from embracing every new way of thinking. It is a shackle that binds our minds. It fears the light, the spread of warmth, and the piercing force of free thought... It rejects passion, kindness, and change. So we wrap ourselves up layer upon layer, imprisoning and abandoning ourselves, stubbornly refusing to change. This towering, solid fortress is an icebound city built from entrenched ideas.
