A Lifetime of Deep Love, Given to You

I have a secret I’ve kept buried in my heart: I’ve loved Gu Tingchen for nine whole years. When I was young, I used to follow him everywhere. When I grew up, I finally became his wife. But he gave me no love, not even the slightest bit of pity. I tried to tempt him into dating me by offering him a divorce and the power of the Shi family, but he wasn’t moved at all. He would never remember the nervous, cautious little girl who used to follow behind him. Only after our divorce did I realize that what I’d thought was deep love had only been me moving myself. And even as I lay dying, I still didn’t know that the man I loved, so gentle and warm as the moon and a breeze, had never been him. I had mistaken him for someone else from the very beginning. What I’d called deep love, what I’d called devotion, had all been nothing but self-deception. --The story is fictional. Please do not imitate.
