The Emperor and His Consort Qingwu

He was a powerless prince of the ruling dynasty, hiding his ambitions and lying low for ten years. She was the gentle, refined daughter of a powerful minister, famous throughout the capital and innocent of the ways of the world. He loved her, deceived her, schemed against her, and took her by force. She hated him, despised him, loathed him, and fled from him. In a political marriage planned long in advance, he finally got what he wanted, while she was doomed to endless misery. The history books record: “On the eighth day of the fifth month, in the fourth year of Kaihuang, Imperial Noble Consort Shen, posthumously honored as Wenxian, passed away. The emperor had lost the one he loved forever.”
