I Built a Skyscraper on South Island

This story is dedicated to you, whether you've graduated, started a business, once carried a dream in your heart, or are still pressing on under heavy burdens along the road to a better life! There was a simple, ordinary little city where half-built towers dotted the landscape and the economy languished after the real estate bubble burst in 1992. Seventeen years later, the announcement of the national economic strategy to develop an international tourism island brought it the spring of recovery. She graduated in architectural design from the city's top university. At her first job, she went into real estate sales and became the year's top seasonal salesperson. But then her younger brother fell ill, changing the course of her life. Gazing at the luxurious crystal chandelier high above the split-level living room, she saw her own longing reflected in its glass: Could I ever live in a big house like this? In her hardship, money's wicked allure beckoned her down a path of confusion. Her family and the person she loved stood on either side, with money as the balancing beam between them, bearing the weight of both. He said, "I worked overtime and finished a few extra projects this month. We can cover the medical bills now. No matter how hard things get, I'll get through them with you." But the other man said, "Money is important sometimes, but you have to understand: if a problem can be solved with money, then at least it's not a real problem." On one side was a powerful boss with whom she shared a love that was as destructive as it was supportive, drawing them together only to pull them apart. On the other was the genuine romance she had finally found with the man she'd secretly loved throughout university! The little city endured the devastation of Typhoon Rammasun, the strongest typhoon in Chinese history, leaving wreckage everywhere. Then came a barrage of torrential rain, flooding Coconut City. Her career and love life were swept about by the storms too. Where would the road of life take her next? This is a story of growing up and striving, of losing one's way and losing what matters, and finally of success and understanding!
