The Beggar’s Rich Princess

This isn't a tragic romance. After all, who hasn't loved a few terrible people these days?

“I hear the young lady of the Shen family in Rongcheng swore before the Buddha that she would marry no one but you after seeing you that day. Her devotion is as clear as the sun and moon. She wept and declared she'd gladly be your concubine, speaking so earnestly that her words moved everyone to the depths of their hearts. As her husband, you ought to at least respond. You really shouldn't ignore her open affection. That's not right.”

“Hmm... You're right, that isn't very nice. What do you think I should do, my lady?”

“Obviously, reject her firmly and without hesitation. Tell her your heart has room for only me, and no one else.”

“Sound advice. Tomorrow I'll send someone to tell Miss Wang that the nunnery outside the city, with its lovely mountains and rivers, is the perfect place to shave her head, become a nun, and serve the Buddha. That would earn you another merit.”

“...It was Miss Shen, not Miss Wang... In the end, it's your fault for failing to uphold a husband's virtue. You go out showing your face every day and attract admirers...”

“My lady's reprimand is well deserved... I willingly accept any kind of nighttime punishment.”
