Leaping Through the Dragon's Gate Again

In the late 1980s, a group of students from rural areas who had failed the college entrance exam returned to cram school to prepare for another attempt. The pressure of the exam, their parents’ expectations, and the bragging of classmates who had made it into college all weighed on them. Could they fulfill their dreams? In the end, they could only count on themselves. Here, the lives of repeat students at a rural middle school thirty years ago are brought vividly to life. For those of us who lived through it, this is a chance to revisit that extraordinary era.
