Mi Lan'er, a spoiled little delinquent, was drag racing when she transmigrated. When she woke up, two hungry babies were by her side.
Her husband had been conscripted, and the foolish girl had been driven out of her husband's family.
She lived in a shabby woodshed and was burdened with heavy field and land taxes.
She wasn't afraid of going hungry or dealing with awful people.
With the System to rely on, she had no worries about food or clothing, and could beat those troublemakers to a pulp.
But before she knew it, Mi Lan'er's heart had softened, and two little rascals had found shelter beneath her wings.
Farming Diary:
After Mi Lan'er transmigrated, the harvest from her first crop set the whole village gossiping.
“That foolish girl from the Mi family sure is lucky. If the harvest lets her family have a bowl of thick porridge, that'll be quite something, yet that silly girl can even sell rice to Old Master Wang from the next village. Goodness!”
Several women chimed in. They were still kind enough in their words, all envying Mi Lan'er's good fortune. The Qin family had given her that plot because it was poor land, but in Mi Lan'er's hands, it had turned into fertile fields.
“Bah! Pity her? Your own family can't even afford food, and you've got time to pity someone else? Keep your kindness to yourself. She doesn't need your pity. She's well fed and dressed, and still acts like a mad dog.”
“Exactly. No wonder the Qin family divorced her. She bites everyone she sees. What, were they supposed to keep her around until New Year?”
“And besides, who knows if that madwoman took it from the Mi family? Mi Changshui is awfully protective of his foolish daughter, after all.”
The women who had suffered at Mi Lan'er's hands started slandering her one after another. Then a quiet voice came from behind them.
“Oh? Is that so? How come I never heard about it? Though I did hear your maiden family somehow came into ten extra pounds of grain a few days ago. I wonder who was kind enough to give it to them?”
Mi Lan'er's voice carried a dangerous edge, and the woman felt a chill run down her back.
Before Mi Lan'er could do anything, an old woman in the crowd grabbed a broom and charged at her own daughter-in-law.
A battle between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law erupted, while Mi Lan'er strolled home, whistling.
Winning Her Heart:
One day after returning home, Qin Lai suddenly shaved off his beard.
That day, Mi Lan'er noticed a familiar figure constantly wandering around her, in front of her and behind her. She was already busy, and finally lost patience. Holding the clothes she was about to wash, she shoved them into Qin Lai's arms.
“Wash your son's clothes yourself. You've got nothing better to do all day.”
Snubbed, Qin Lai rubbed his chin. By the time he came to his senses, Mi Lan'er had already gone far, so he followed her with the clothes in his arms.
“Ah, I feel so strange without my beard.” Qin Lai glanced at Mi Lan'er, watching for her reaction.
“Humph.” Mi Lan'er gave him a strange look and walked away.
A little later, as Mi Lan'er worked in the kitchen, she heard crying from the courtyard. It was Da Hu, with Qin Lai trying in vain to soothe him.
Mi Lan'er gave a cold laugh. Serves you right. So much for acting all aloof.
