The Ex-Wife Returns: Dr. Shao, Long Time No See

She was Tong Xinle, the most doted-on daughter of the Tong family. He was Shao Zhengqian, the Shao family's proudest prodigy. She met him and fell in love with him a step later than the other women. At twenty, she got ahead of them and made him marry her. She knew he didn't love her, but she hoped he would give her a chance to make him fall in love with her over the next three years. Three years later, she finally understood one thing: love someone if you love them; if you don't, you don't. Trying hard doesn't always change anything. Once she understood, Tong Xinle resolutely gave up on the marriage, left a divorce agreement behind, and went abroad. But Tong Xinle had no idea how frantically Shao Zhengqian searched for her in the year after she left. She also didn't know what Shao Zhengqian had been doing behind the scenes to bring her back. Another three years passed, and Tong Xinle returned to China because her grandfather was ill. After returning, she went to him herself, intending to keep things strictly professional. Instead, he was determined to keep her entangled with him. [Long time no see] She sat in his office, waiting for him. After a while, footsteps sounded at the door. She stood, turned with a smile, and said calmly, “Doctor Shao, long time no see.” Shao Zhengqian's lips stiffened. Her words doused his burning anticipation like a bucket of cold water, jolting him back to his senses. Shao Zhengqian slowed his steps. “Doctor Shao, please save my grandfather. Besides the medical fees, I'll exchange something I treasure most for your help.” Tong Xinle stated her purpose in the calmest possible tone. She wasn't here to reminisce. She only wanted him to agree to save someone, nothing more. “Let's hear it.” Shao Zhengqian lowered his head to leaf through the medical records on his desk. His palms were sweaty, but she didn't notice. “What?” Tong Xinle paused. “What is the thing you treasure most?” Shao Zhengqian raised his eyes, his gaze deep and full of anticipation. Tong Xinle stepped forward and placed a photo of their son on the desk. The light in Shao Zhengqian's eyes dimmed. He set the photo down, then raised his head and refused firmly. “That's not enough.” “What?” Tong Xinle stared at him in astonishment. He'd grown greedy. “...” P.S. Gezi says: This is a sweet romance, whether you believe it or not. I, Gezi, believe it wholeheartedly. There should be applause here: clap, clap, clap...
