Youth Waits for No One

A homebody gets kicked out of the house. Her mother tells her not to come back unless she brings home a man. So the twenty-eight-year-old single woman finally leaves home and enters the workforce. She’s competing with a bunch of sweet young things for a job, and her overall qualifications are so poor. Can she even support herself? She says, “I can’t rely on my looks or my experience, but I can rely on my shamelessness.” And so, with her shameless persistence, she manages to sleep with her boss. Man: “You think I love you?” Woman: “That’s fine. I don’t love you either. Let’s just make do, shall we?” In short, this is a story about thinking I don’t love you.
