A Chaotic World of Mortals: The Consort Rules All

The Great Qi dynasty has stood for less than a century. Its first ruler won the realm from horseback, and the second governed with benevolence. By the third generation, ambition outweighed wisdom. In his bid to strengthen imperial authority, the ruler treated human lives as expendable. At the mere whim of the man on the throne, more than a hundred families were destroyed and over a thousand people lost their lives. The dead could not rest in peace, and the living were twisted by what they had endured.

The Calamity of the Seventh Month also became the spark that ignited a long-hidden royal conspiracy and the feud between the great clans. Swept into the struggle for imperial power, family dominance, and reputation, the six great clans found themselves at the heart of the storm. Some wanted to eradicate the great clans and remove a threat to their position. Others sought to use the clans’ power to claim the highest authority. The clans, with legacies spanning dynasties and generations, wanted nothing more than to preserve their thousand-year inheritance.

Hegemony, revenge, survival: in this maelstrom, some are driven mad by fame, status, and wealth; some become demons for the sake of hatred, ambition, or a beloved; others struggle beneath their burdens, determined not to be swept along by the current, but to remain true to themselves.
