The Ruined Capital: Empress of the Apocalypse

At eight years old, all he could see was a sea of crimson. From then on, he chose to sink into endless darkness...

Love had never been part of his plans, and he had no dreams of finding it.

If all a person does each day is wait for the day they will die,

then nothing else matters to them...

And yet,

the woman his imperial brothers had mischievously foisted on him,

that strange woman, gentle and clever yet impossibly stubborn,

was someone he grew ever more attached to, so much so that... he began to dread letting her go.

When his concern for her turned into an inexplicable desire to possess her, his heart fell into turmoil...

But their love was destined to be harder, more helpless, and more beyond their control than that of ordinary people.

He knew she had always kept someone else in her heart. He knew she disliked life in the palace just as much as he did. As political intrigue in the palace flared without end and smoke from border wars filled the air, he decided to let her go. He had no choice, because he bore the hopes of the people of Yanchi and the responsibility of succeeding the officials. All he wanted was for her to be happy and live well...

How could he bear it? How could he bring himself to let her become the “Empress of the Last Days”?!
