National Preceptor, Please Don't Be So Aloof

He is a cold and powerful Imperial Preceptor. She is a sweet, money-loving nun and petty thief. When they first meet He says nothing and hauls her straight into his carriage! “Benefactor, I have seen through the mortal world. Please keep your distance.” “No matter. I’d be happy to roam freely beyond the mortal world with you.” “…” Yeah, right. He just lost the real queen and dragged her back to fill in! * “Come back with me.” “You think I’ll go just because you tell me to? I’d lose all face!” “Fifty taels.” “Trying to buy me off with money? What kind of person do you take me for?” “Gold.” She swallows hard. “I’m a woman of principle! Don’t think you can buy me off with a little money!” His voice turns icy. “Don’t push your luck!” He starts to take the gold back. She quickly pins it down. “I want a salary, and I want it every day!” He smiles, pleased with himself. “Fine. Whatever you want, as long as I can afford it, it’s yours.” She counts on her fingers. If the Left Imperial Preceptor can afford it, doesn’t that mean she can have the whole world…? But once she gets to his residence, she discovers it’s all an illusion “You slept in this morning. Your pay is cut by thirty percent today.” “The Right Imperial Preceptor suspects you. Your pay is cut in half today.” “You even got my name wrong. No pay until you learn to write it, and no meat for you.” She panics. “At least you’ll save me some tomato and egg stir-fry, right?” His cool gaze sweeps over her. “Eggs come from chickens. You dare claim chicken isn’t meat?!” … * But the Right Imperial Preceptor is suspicious, and so are the ministers. Who is that woman in red, striding so enchantingly at the coronation ceremony? She is quiet, lazy, adorable, and sometimes a little ridiculous. But once she dons the imperial robes, she can be a queen who takes the world by storm! She defeats Han Jing in the north and subdues the merfolk in the east. Donning her armor, she reveals her assassin’s skills once more! She takes down corrupt officials and puts scoundrels in their place. She marries the Imperial Preceptor and reaches the pinnacle of life! [A cozy little scene] She lazily cradles a newly presented bunch of purple jade grapes while he sits at his desk, still reviewing memorials. “Hey, that piece of purple jade on Minister Wang looks pretty nice.” “Take it!” “That antique painting on Minister Li’s wall looks pretty nice.” “Take it!” “…” “?” He looks up in confusion. “That Second Heir of the Northern Frontier looks…” His expression instantly turns from sunny to wintry. His thin lips part as he says coolly, “You dare! From now on, if you so much as glance at another man besides me, I’ll break one of your legs!” She counts on her fingers and sighs. “Oh dear, that means I’ll only get to look twice…” … ^^^For more excitement, read the story!^^^ This is a devoted one-on-one romance about a bickering couple!
