Remarriage

People often say, “A married couple are like birds in the same forest, but when disaster strikes, they fly off in separate directions.” Indeed, without the bonds of family or blood, it’s understandable that two people would think first of saving themselves in a crisis. But life is not all the same; it takes countless forms. There is a kind of love that means facing death together and standing by each other through every hardship. This is the kind of love story presented here. Bai Lili is a middle-school Chinese teacher. Her ex-husband, Li Changqing, is a civil servant, and they have a son together. When their son was just eight, Li Changqing had an affair. Unable to accept this, Bai Lili resolutely asked for a divorce. She raised their son alone and, so he could grow up well, never remarried. Seven years passed, and her son had grown into a young man. Then she learned that Li Changqing had kidney failure and had been abandoned by the woman he was with. To give her son a complete family, Bai Lili put the past behind her and made a shocking decision: she remarried Li Changqing and donated one of her kidneys to him.
