What does it feel like to live just waiting to die? Lai Jinmei has been hospitalized and discharged repeatedly over the past eight years, and was even admitted twice to the 7th floor, which symbolizes "waiting to die." As she said herself, for her, time has long stood still and her heart has long been closed. From the very beginning, she had no hope. Because when expectations cannot be realized, the despair will be more painful. Rather than this, it is better to give up at the beginning. Therefore, Lai Jinmei always said "nothing", didn't care about everything around her, and just lived peacefully. It can be said that Lai Jinmei gave up her life eight years ago. From the narrative of the story, we can feel that Raizumi has suicidal thoughts. What makes me curious is why she hasn't done this for so many years? So, I don't think she doesn't care about everything around her, she's just afraid to admit that she does. She is passive, looking forward to being rescued and understood, but because she is afraid of being hurt, she chooses to be indifferent and avoid everything. The highlight of the entire story is the 900km journey between the protagonist and Raizumi. This can also be regarded as a turning point, allowing Lai Jinmei, who chose to escape, to face her own life again. At first, the two decided to leave because they didn't want to stay in the hospital or at home. However, they found a new purpose in life - to go to Awaji Island to see narcissu. There was a scene in the story that impressed me deeply. After the two decided to go to Awaji Island, they rested by a lake. At this time, just like last time, setsumi walked to the water and asked the protagonist if she walked into the water like this, would the protagonist stop her? The protagonist's answer is, because I know we are going to Awaji Island, so you won't just walk into the water. When life has a goal, the meaning of life emerges.
