The Finest Daughter of a Noble House

The road through this mortal world winds on and on; life’s hardships stretch endlessly. Amid the seven emotions and six desires, who can understand the workings of fate? Author’s note She is a passionate reporter who charges into the front lines. She fears neither dangerous lairs nor powerful politicians and business magnates. She is the legitimate daughter of a distinguished family, raised to follow every rule. She lives in constant fear within the confines of a sprawling mansion, treading carefully in all she does. When her soul crosses paths with hers through time and space, who will throw the passions of this world into chaos? Scene One: “Kill him or spare him? My lord wants your answer!” A large, anxious-looking man stood in the embroidery room of a wealthy household. “Keep him or let him go, that’s up to him!” A poised young noblewoman sat before an elegant, old-fashioned embroidery frame. Silence. Waiting. At last, the man had no choice but to leap back out the window. “Miss, shall we kill him or not?” a young maid asked softly, stepping out of the shadows. “What use is there in keeping him?” the refined woman replied coolly, never stopping her needlework. There was no end to the trouble in a grand household. Hmph, she’d like to see what ghosts and goblins were lurking about. Scene Two: “You were born into a powerful, prominent family, so I can only marry you, never love you! If you’d been born into a poor family, I wouldn’t even have had the right to marry you!” He had power and influence, yet was trapped by them, unable to love her and unable to let her go. “I never wanted this marriage, and I can’t control love. It’s all right. If one day you come to love me, or I come to love you, we can sever our ties and forget each other in the world beyond. I’ve been lucky enough to survive two lifetimes. I believe I can still afford to love, and to lose.” “Forget you? No! Even if I can’t love you, you must fall in love with me. Only then can I keep you by my side for all eternity!” He suddenly changed his mind. He wanted her heart as well as her hand. “Greedy men never come to a good end!” Before she married, she decided to lock her heart away three more times. Scene Three: “You have a heart of pure poison! I hate that I called myself clever, only to be led around by you. I hate that I let one moment of hesitation keep me from wiping you out. I hate it! But winners become kings and losers become outcasts. I have nothing more to say. I only ask you, for the sake of our sisterhood, to spare me and her!” The disheveled noblewoman knelt in disarray. A bead of blood fell from the corner of her mouth onto the lustrous white marble, blooming into a wicked flower. “Sisters? Ha! What a lovely word! When you framed me, plotted against me, and killed and harmed people, did you ever remember that we shared the same blood? You stole your husband, stole your child, and built your so-called happiness on the blood and bones of innocent people! In the dead of night, were you ever afraid? Did you ever see the wronged souls wandering around your bed?” She had a kind heart, but no desire to act kindly. So what if they were sisters? Those who owed her would pay. “Why should I be afraid? Every man for himself, and the devil take the hindmost. What a lowborn concubine’s daughter couldn’t have, I, a noble legitimate daughter, could. Don’t act so noble. In the end, you’re just looking down on everyone from your lofty perch, pretending to be a saint to win a good reputation!” They were both scheming, ruthless daughters of noble families. What made her any better? “You’re right. But in the end, I won, and you lost everything!” If five thousand years of human knowledge couldn’t outsmart someone from ancient times, then she’d truly wasted two lifetimes. Note: A strong heroine and an even stronger hero, both devious as can be. The household battles are about to begin, and every player is ready to take the stage. Both leads are pure in body and heart, and the story is one-to-one. If you like that, come read. If not, spare us the argument.
