That Lamp

Mo Liangxi was Mo Ran’s older brother. The first time they met, ten-year-old Mo Liangxi made a face at five-year-old Mo Ran, and she burst into tears.

Mo Liangxi disappeared, consumed by hatred, determined to forget. There was nothing wrong with living an ordinary life, Mo Ran thought. But she said she believed in fairy tales, and so, at the most beautiful age of twenty, she met a man named Xiao Haozhe. And fell for him.

Six years later, Mo Liangxi returned. “I told you, I’d make everyone you care about die! Every last one of them!” he told Mo Ran. She longed for a quiet, ordinary life, yet friendship, family, and love all led her into a dead end. When hope suddenly shattered, when memories plunged into the hell of the past, when a conspiracy quietly closed in, she was still there, reminiscing about those happiest days.

If you’ve ever loved someone, or felt lost, or wondered why all the sadness in the world seems to find its way to you; if you hope to see your own feelings and experiences reflected in a novel, then perhaps you might give this one a read.
