[Just this once, can you let me say I love you?, Gu Xiaocheng]
[Since I can’t wait for your love, I’ll let go. It’s not that I don’t love you anymore, I just hope you can be happy., Gu Xiaocheng]
[I told you that you must never fall in love with me, and I will never love you either., Mu Yifei]
[Excerpt One]
Every night, she longed for the man beside her to say those words. She waited desperately, never expecting that she would be the one to say them.
Humble and helpless, she could only clutch his expensive shirt as tears spilled down, soaking his chest. But his heart remained cold.
His voice was icy, his gaze freezing. He looked at her as if she were a stranger. “Gu Xiaocheng, I told you that you must never fall in love with me.”
She stared at him in despair, at his black eyes, cold as snow. Her heart shattered into pieces, yet even then, she still loved him.
She buried her face against the chest that bore the scent of his possession. Her voice, hoarse from crying, broke as she said, “Mu Yifei, just this once, can you let me say I love you...”
[Excerpt Two]
“Yifei, could you help me one more time?”
With nowhere else to turn, she came before him once again, humbling herself to repay the huge debt her father had run up gambling.
She looked at him and the beautiful bride beside him. Her heart had gone still as death; she could no longer feel any pain.
“Gu Xiaocheng, who do you think you are? Why should I help you?” The man’s cold, magnetic voice stabbed into her heart like a blade.
Her face was pale, but she lifted her chin stubbornly. There was no resentment in her eyes, only the absence of the deep love that had once been there.
She stopped pleading and turned away calmly. “Mu Yifei, this is the last time I, Gu Xiaocheng, will ask you for help. I’ll never appear before you again.”
[Excerpt Three]
“Mr. Mu.” Mu Yifei answered the phone, and his assistant’s cautious voice came through.
“Hmm? Go ahead...” Mu Yifei’s voice trembled.
“Mr. Mu, I checked. Today, today, the plane Miss Gu was on ran into a sudden storm over the Pacific. It crashed, and everyone aboard was killed...”
