Three years ago, she broke up with him, stunning everyone.
For the next three years, she lived like an ostrich in her own little world, refusing to look or listen. Then, three years later, he suddenly made a dazzling return.
He had risen to become the general manager of Hengyuan, while she was just a junior employee at another company.
She knew he had a beautiful fiancée, but she still couldn’t resist his allure and gradually fell deeper and deeper. Then her friend’s sudden return turned out to be the beginning of a war...
This was an unprecedented game, yet everyone caught up in it was still unaware...
Xu Yimo’s resolve.
Mo Qingqing’s confusion.
Lulu’s despair.
Jiang Linyue’s sorrow.
We are moving forward, one step at a time...
We are moving step by step toward an uncertain ending.
“I don’t like that car,” Mo Qingqing said, pointing at the red Audi R8 across the street, clearly displeased. “It’s so garish!”
Xu Yimo raised an eyebrow without comment. “What about it bothers you?”
Mo Qingqing thought for a moment. “The color is especially ugly.”
By the time they left the restaurant, the owner of the Audi R8 was cursing furiously. Seeing the car splattered with paint in every color, Mo Qingqing could barely contain her delight as she hooked her arm through the one beside her.
Xu Yimo glanced at her, a faint smile flickering in his eyes.
“Actually, it would look even better if the owner had some color on him too,” Mo Qingqing added, quite seriously.
Xu Yimo looked back at her and shook his head with a faintly helpless sigh. “How can you be so wicked?”
Mo Qingqing smiled, radiant and innocent. But as their car drove past, she saw, in perfect clarity and slow motion, a bucket of mysterious black liquid flying straight at the owner and splashing all over him.
Mo Qingqing stared blankly for a moment, then couldn’t help turning back and murmuring, “Yimo, you’re so wicked.”
One day, Mo Qingqing had a sudden thought and said to the person beside her, who was slowly sipping coffee, “People say the higher you climb, the harder you fall. I wonder what it feels like to jump from the tallest building in the city.”
Xu Yimo lifted his head from his documents. His handsome brows furrowed slightly as he looked at her. “Why do you always have such strange ideas?”
Mo Qingqing stuck out her tongue. He had been working so seriously that she was bored, so she had said it just to make conversation. She was only curious.
She never imagined that one night, he would suddenly drag her out of bed. Still half-asleep and barely conscious, she felt his arm tighten around her waist before he leapt with her from the tallest floor.
A piercing scream cut through the night sky. At that moment, rage erupted in his heart like a blazing inferno, threatening to destroy everything before him.
Pain suddenly shot through Mo Qingqing’s cheek. Before she could react, her body slammed hard against the wall. The impact was so forceful that she thought she heard a bone snap out of place.
“You’re leaving?” He gripped her face. His usually cool, stern expression was more furious than she had ever seen, yet his voice was strangely calm, even tinged with tenderness.
The pain left Mo Qingqing reeling. She could only shake her head as she looked at him. She reached out to embrace him, but he ruthlessly shoved her away.
“You’re leaving?” His other hand touched her face. Looking at her misty, tear-filled eyes, he suddenly smiled. Against his face, cold as iron, that smile was indescribably eerie.
“How can you leave?” His low voice carried a soft laugh, and his eyes overflowed with tenderness. “Don’t forget, you once said you’d be at my wedding.”
Mo Qingqing’s eyes flew open despite the pain. “You’re getting married?!”
Xu Yimo lowered his head, his lips brushing her tear-streaked cheek. His voice was as low and intimate as a lover’s whisper. “That’s right. Too bad it won’t be you.”
After saying something so cruel, he let her freeze in shock for a moment. Then she erupted, struggling desperately to break free. “Let go of me! Let go! Xu Yimo! You can’t treat me like this!”
Her emotions nearly shattered her, leaving her irrational, but he held on stubbornly and refused to let go, even though he had already decided to cast her aside.
Gradually, she felt she had cried and screamed until all her strength was gone. She wished she could simply die. She began to beg him. “Xu Yimo, please, I’m begging you, let me go! Please, you can’t be this cruel! I’ll die, I really will. Please…”
His smile grew even crueler. A moment later, apparently tired of it, he simply let go. Mo Qingqing summoned all her strength to rush out, but suddenly felt a tight grip on her arm. He flung her onto the bed...
