The Black Notebook: The Bloodstained Restaurant

They also experience and solve several horrifying murder cases, and new words continue to fill the pages of Chen Xiang’s black notebook.

The Invisible Killer in the Cubicles: Li Wei, a white-collar worker at a foreign company who is seven months pregnant, is pushed from behind down the stairwell of an eleven-story building and loses her baby. The cruelty, sordidness, and complexity hidden beneath the polished, peaceful surface of office life gradually come to light. It seems anyone could be the killer: a close colleague who had her boyfriend stolen, a peer with whom she has a bitter rivalry, a subordinate with years of pent-up resentment after being exploited, or even her estranged husband, Zhang Lijun.

Murder at Sunrise: On the summit of Mount Tai, at the very moment they welcome the dawn, they witness a murder with their own eyes. What began as a friendly gathering of teachers and former students turns into a carefully planned journey of revenge.

The Bloodstained Restaurant: Zhang Jian, head chef at the Pinshang Restaurant, dies after an allergic reaction to seafood, setting off another string of murders. Suicide and murder become entangled. The appearance of a bloodstained shirt reveals a shocking secret: the dismemberment murder at the Pinshang Restaurant, and a kidnapping and murder from more than ten years ago. They kill without lifting a finger, never personally taking part in any of the crimes, yet control every life and death.
