Love in Yesterday's Tomorrow

The heroine, Murong Xiling, is proud and self-assured, even a little conceited. After entering university, she encounters two outstanding young men. One is Yin Han, an upperclassman in her department and a childhood playmate she met once, though she isn't sure whether they truly knew each other. The other is Ying Ran, a freshman in a different department. Warm, modest, and mysterious, he works his way through school, yet carries himself with a refinement that seems almost aristocratic, reserved but never meek.

But she has never been able to forget the pain her first love caused her. It was a love she could neither refuse nor foresee, yet her first boyfriend, Lin Yifan, left her without giving her any reason... leaving her trapped between memory and reality.

Later, her upperclassman drops out and heads south. Xiling and her former best friend, now her friend once more, also go through many changes. Year after year, they grow and endure painful transformations... At last, Xiling makes her choice, but she still cannot be sure of her feelings.

When they graduate, her first love returns. Will she go back to the past when Lin Yifan finally gives her a reason, or continue with the life she has now?

In those contradictory, helpless days of youth, does everyone look back on the warmth of the past? Or do we only understand later that what we should cherish most is the present?
