Synopsis: Excerpt One:
The bridal sedan chair adorned with dragon and phoenix motifs stopped on Xuanyuan Street, murderous intent filling the air. He sat astride a white horse in red robes, while she swirled down into the carriage in red. The swaying jade beads caught the complicated emotions in their four interlocking gazes. Wu Yan and Xiang Si: “Master, Master, the Crown Princess has been murdered.” One person’s thin lips curled slightly, while another’s gaze turned icy: “Perfect, just perfect.” Wu Yan and Xiang Si both rubbed their foreheads. Ruthless.
Excerpt Two:
“I love you. I don’t care whether you’re human, ghost, demon, devil, god, or immortal. Your future husband, the father of your children, the one whose surname you take, the one who shares your bed in life and your grave in death, can only be me. You can only love me. You can only agree,” someone declared domineeringly.
The woman slowly raised her head and glanced sidelong at the man with her ink-dark eyes. “Mm.”
Someone: ...That’s it? What did she mean?
Someone: “You...”
The woman: “I love you. I don’t care whether you’re human, spirit, soul, god, or sovereign. Your future wife, the mother of your children, the one who takes my surname, the one who shares my bed in life and my grave in death, can only be me. You can only love me. You can only be mine for the rest of your life.”
Someone: ...He stood dumbfounded, his phoenix eyes filled with disbelief. Had she... had she just told him that she loved him too? Thinking this, he giggled with delight. Everyone else lowered their heads, rubbed their foreheads, or coughed lightly, making it clear they wanted nothing to do with this man.
“She loves me too. She really does love me.” The excited man repeated it over and over, a glimmer of moisture flashing in his phoenix eyes.
Excerpt Three:
He slowly vanished into the mist. She seized that final wisp of light and snarled, “I’d rather live forever in someone else’s shadow. You, come back.” Her ink-dark eyes turned fierce, and a demonic red hue suddenly transformed the skies. The man in blue robes sighed and shook his head. “He wants you to live.”
A single tear fell, stirring ripples of shimmering beauty, but no one remained to admire them. “If his life is what keeps me alive, what is the point? What life would that leave me?”
Excerpt Four:
On a flying cloud, the woman sat with her red robes spread around her, her black hair swept up beneath a golden crown. Her gaze fell on the man in luxurious purple robes, full of tender longing. “You came.” The man looked at the face he knew down to his very bones and curled his lips into a smile. “Yes, I came.”
The woman lowered her hand and looked earnestly at him. “I love you. Do you love me?”
His voice was cold. “I do.” I truly do love you, but...
The woman smiled dreamily. The tassels in her hair swayed as her brows knitted together. She lowered her head and stared in a daze at the Godslayer Sword in her abdomen. At her ear, she heard his cold, emotionless words: “The one I’ve always loved is Qin Fu.”
“But I am Qin Fu.” Have you forgotten? I am Qin Fu.
“I will never forget the person I love.”
She knew that this time, she was truly dead. She didn’t understand. Had he been deceiving her all along? Pain filled her phoenix eyes. She had wanted him to kill her with his own hands, and he had done so. But how would he face a world without her?
