The Redemption Game

In 2045, human technology advanced by leaps and bounds. Emotion-to-energy conversion was hailed as humanity's greatest invention in fifty years.

Human emotions, joy, anger, sorrow, fear, love, dislike, and hatred, could all be converted into energy, easing Earth's growing resource shortage.

In 2070, the Energy War broke out. Three months later, emotional energy officially became humanity's main energy source.

The global economic order was transformed. ETF (Emotion Transform Foundation) became the world's largest financial conglomerate and most influential corporation.

In 2075, Nan Ke Zhai, an online gaming company under ETF, released the game Redeemer. Players could create and collect energy cards in the game, then ask the company to materialize them once certain conditions were met.

A year later, Redeemer had become the world's most popular online game.
