With Willow Catkins in Our Hair, We Grow Old Together

If you do not disdain me, I would be honored to join our families in marriage.

As a girl, Shen Yuan loved poetry collections. She was generous about everything and never took much to heart. On hearing the words, “A pact between our families, a union like Qin and Jin,” she married without hesitation.

But perhaps it was like spring blossoms: once their season of brilliance passed, all that remained was a nauseating stench of decay.

That stench clung to Shen Yuan as she made her way through the extravagant excesses of the Republican era, despising the former self who had once flourished like a spring pine in those old dreams of days past.

History buffs and sticklers for historical accuracy, please move along. The military ranks are a mix, and the historical timeline is a mess. This is a story set in an alternate Republican era.

This is a slow burn, an extremely slow burn, and both leads are virgins. The heroine has a first love, so please don’t read if that bothers you. The male lead is aloof, decisive, and ruthless. The heroine is the type to play the fool while hiding her strength: clever, perceptive, and independent-minded.
