The Merchant’s Darling Daughter Refuses to Be a Concubine

Ning Qing transmigrates into the body of the daughter of an ordinary wealthy merchant. She has neither power nor influence, but wants for nothing, so life is pretty good.

Yet this humble family has produced a prince's consort, even if she is only his second wife!

Her aunt, the prince's consort, comes from a weak family, has a timid nature, and has no children to rely on. She struggles to get by under the thumb of her stepson.

Her aunt's life is so miserable that Ning Qing, her niece, ends up taking the fall! Her grandmother pushes her forward and makes her a concubine to her aunt's stepson!

Oh, come on! Isn't this the kind of villainous female character in traditional novels who exists solely to sabotage the hero and heroine?

Luckily, her aunt has a conscience. “Being a second wife is hard enough, let alone being a concubine. How about you stay with me? I'll find another family for you.”

Ning Qing is delighted. “No one powerful or influential, and no one too rich. And he can't be too handsome, either.”

Her cousin, the young lord who is powerful, influential, rich, and far too handsome, grits his teeth. “Are you sure you don't want me?”

Ning Qing: “No, no! Cousins marrying, concubines and secondary wives, all of that is immoral!”

The young lord: “Cousins make a fine match, and we can do without concubines and secondary wives. How about we talk it over?”

Ning Qing: “That could work.”

In truth, this is the thrilling tale of a sweet, cunning little cousin brainwashing a domineering young lord into becoming completely devoted to his wife!

The young lord is domineering and controlling, yet elegant and refined. His little cousin is charming, sweet, and cunning all at once. Her motives are far from pure, the process is deliciously satisfying, and the ending is perfect.
