The Song of Mulan

When in Rome, do as the Romans do: get married and have children, leave earning a living and supporting the family to the man, leave striving to bring honor to the family to the son, and just tend to your little corner of the household yourself. Then you can sit back and wait for the end.

Xie Mulan decided that was how she’d spend her life, but there was always someone who wouldn’t let her have her way. Her suitors ended up maimed, her fiancé was caught cheating, and all the eligible young noblemen began to shudder at the mention of “Lan.”

Mulan was furious. “Who the hell are you? What’s your problem with me getting married? Who’s going to take responsibility if you leave me an old maid?”

A certain man stepped forward calmly. “I will!”
