Ex-Husband, Don't Push Your Luck

PS: This story is entirely fictional. Any resemblance to actual people or events is purely coincidental. Since the previous synopsis wasn’t clear enough and many readers said they couldn’t understand it, Liu Te has revised it. Does this version make sense? Six years ago, he saved her from a desperate situation. She grew greedy and, when he was at odds with the girlfriend he loved, married a man who didn’t love her at all. Caught between him and his girlfriend, she felt like an unwanted presence. For six years, she was like a clown in this loveless marriage, struggling, working hard, giving, pleasing him, sacrificing, and contributing. After he and his girlfriend went their separate ways, he vanished from her world without warning for three years. If she hadn’t already been pregnant with his child, his family might have thrown her out long ago. Six years later, she has raised their child into a beautiful, healthy little one. As always, she takes care of him after he suddenly reappears. Then one day, at the grand wedding he has arranged for her, rumors linking her to another man hit the entertainment headlines, and the whole room erupts in an uproar. “You went to such lengths to plan all this. It must have been exhausting.” The curve of his lips is like a weapon, wounding her without a trace. “Maybe you never loved me at all.” He is still handsome and wickedly charming, but the spirit and fiery temper he had back then are long gone. Still, every word cuts like a blade, dripping with mockery. Facing this man, she says: “You’re the pair of magnificent crystal slippers women dream of. This marriage, where I had to mutilate myself to make myself fit, has to end.” What a loving, innocent beginning. What a foolish, stubborn struggle. How could he ever understand? She thought that after the divorce, they would never have anything to do with each other again. But she never expected that some knots could not be untied, and some tangles could not be straightened out. When she fell into the trap of tenderness he laid for her, she made another fatal mistake. Lian Yi, if I had known that loving you would bring me endless ruin, then in my next life I would never fall in love with you at first sight, throw myself into loving you, or be unable to let you go and come back again. Watching him with another woman in his arms and the child who should have been theirs, the pain slowly rising in her heart becomes clear again, just as it did six years ago.
