Yue Xialang’s Story
“So many people are coming. How can your big brother and the others handle everything by themselves? Besides, aren’t you curious about Yue Xialang of the Yue family? He’s technically your fiancé now. And isn’t he at Yangji Sect too? Have you two met?” Helena’s gossip-loving side burst forth. Her eyes sparkled as she stared at Hua Yiye.
Hua Yiye rolled her eyes. They hadn’t just met; they knew each other very well. “Didn’t you say that once he died, our engagement would be void? So why should I pay attention to him?”
“Good point. Better not to look. It’d be bad enough if you didn’t like him, but if you did, would you really marry him? I can’t bear the thought of you becoming a widow while you’re still so young.” Helena kept busy as she spoke.
“What if he doesn’t die?” With Hua Yiye around, it would be no easy matter for Yue Xialang to die, unless she stood by and refused to treat him.
“Don’t worry. He’ll definitely die.” Helena was utterly unconcerned.
“Mother, why does that sound like you’re cursing him?”
Muye’s Story
Muye waved a hand. “You brought me up from the bottom of the cliff, Junior Sister Hua. You practically saved my life. How would you like me to repay you? Shall I offer you my hand in marriage?” By the end of his words, Muye sounded more earnest than ever before.
Seeing his solemn expression, Hua Yiye gave an awkward smile. “I’ve saved plenty of people. If every one of them offered to marry me, I couldn’t possibly accept them all, could I?”
“Then how about accepting just me?” Muye stepped closer and gripped Hua Yiye by the shoulders.
“Um, Senior Brother Muye...” Hua Yiye removed his hands. “To be honest, I already have a fiancé.”
“A fiancé?” A murderous glint flashed in Muye’s eyes, but he quickly went back to his shameless self. “Ah, I thought I might bring home a peerless beauty, but someone else has already claimed you. Still, you’re so capable, Junior Sister. Any man who marries you would never be able to assert his authority as a husband. What a tragedy.”
Hua Yiye’s face instantly darkened. “Get lost. Don’t let me see you again.”
Hou Shenjing’s Story
Hua Yiye kept her head down, watching her delicate deerskin boots sink into the white snow and lift out again, then sink in and lift out once more. Like a child, she was having the time of her life. When she suddenly heard Hou Shenjing speak, she didn’t catch what he said and looked up at him with wide, unfocused eyes.
Seeing those innocent, dewy eyes, Hou Shenjing’s heart softened at once. He gripped her shoulders and spoke with utmost seriousness. “Hua Yiye, whatever happens from now on, I, Hou Shenjing, will always stand in front of you. Remember, I, Hou Shenjing, will die before you, if I have to, and protect you from harm.”
Hua Yiye looked at him blankly. “Senior Brother Hou, even if you die, I don’t want to die. And I won’t die.”
Hua Yiye’s Story
In her previous life, she was a superpowered individual. After being reduced to ashes, she was reborn into another world.
This world had mortals and cultivators. Cultivators trained in spiritual power, and strength ruled all. As for her, not only did she possess the rare mutated ice attribute, she also had the light attribute, which appeared only once every ten thousand years. Alchemy and crafting artifacts came naturally to her.
Unfortunately, her father was utterly unreliable. He thought she was getting in the way of his life with his wife, so he sent her to a sect to study at the age of four. Before she left, he even demanded that she disguise herself as a boy. It turned out that before she was even born, her father had lost a wager and bet away her hand in marriage. In other words, she had a fiancé. But her father didn’t want to honor the agreement, so he came up with the idea of making her disguise herself as a boy. She was at a loss. Was she supposed to spend her whole life as a man?
This story is one-on-one from beginning to end.
