The Tiger and Wolf of the Great Ming

In the eleventh year of the Chongzhen reign, the Jurchens invaded and carried off hundreds of thousands of people.

That same year, Sun Chengzong, the senior minister most likely to turn the tide, died for his country. Lu Xiangsheng, the strongest fighting official, also died for his country. From then on, the Great Ming began its decline.

That year, top animal trainer Zhang Wei arrived with his white tiger. He saw an age overrun by barbarians, with the Chinese people fallen into disarray. His tiger opened its bloody jaws at the enemy, tore them apart with its hard fangs, and tamed them into lapdogs.

But later he realized that the invaders weren't the only ones who needed taming: the country and its people did, too. Once again, he had to use the army as a whip and land and wealth as bait, taming the country into a fierce tiger and training its people into a pack of hungry wolves.

“Raising the people like wolves is better than raising them like sheep. My greatest hope is that when foreigners hear the name of our Huaxia, they'll be as frightened as if they'd seen a tiger or a pack of wolves!” said Zhang Wei.
