Phoenix’s Glory: The Princess Consort Is Rich

She is the illegitimate second daughter of the Left Chancellor's household, lacking talent, virtue, and beauty. The day she was born, a long drought finally broke with a downpour. As it happened, the Empress Dowager was visiting the Left Chancellor's home, so she betrothed the newborn girl to Chen Wang, the Emperor's fourth son, whom the Empress Dowager was holding at the time. Sixteen years later, Chen Wang and her elder sister, the most beautiful woman in all of Daling, fell for each other at first sight, and he broke off the engagement.

Eight years ago, when she was eight, she transmigrated here. She takes everything in stride, letting nothing catch her eye or touch her heart. To her, having the engagement broken was no more than losing a meal ticket.

He is Xiu Wang, Daling's only prince with a different surname, and its richest man. To make it up to her, the Emperor arranges another marriage for her, this time to Daling's richest man. Compared to a prince, a wealthy man is a far better match in her eyes. Who wouldn't like free money?

She is unbothered, living a quiet life. Until now, all she has cared about is making money. Since she is of marriageable age, she figures it wouldn't be bad to marry someone rich, powerful, distinguished, and handsome. But the mysterious “Tianqiong” appears and shatters all the peace she once knew...

Will she manage to marry the richest man?

What will happen between them as they travel from Daling to Dongchu, from Dongchu to Nanyang, and then from Nanyang to Fengcheng, a prosperous, wealthy land that governs itself independently?

Is Xiu Wang really nothing more than a prince with a different surname?

“The maid said, ‘Miss, how can you still be in the mood to embroider at a time like this?’ When she saw that her work was a pile of gold ingots, the corners of her eyes twitched. ‘Miss, you're so vulgar.’

“‘Vulgar? Can you eat without money? Can you buy clothes without money? As far as I'm concerned, you can't get anything done without money, so I love it. I wish I could spend every day hugging a pile of gold and silver. If I ever woke up to find gold as far as the eye could see, tsk, just imagining it makes me happy.’ She finished with a foolish grin and a fixed stare, seemingly lost in the fantasy.

“‘Miss, don't be too upset. His Majesty has arranged another marriage for you, this time to Xiu Wang.’

“‘What? You mean that Fu Xiu, the richest man in Daling, who donated a huge sum five years ago when floods and droughts ravaged the country and the people were starving and destitute, saving them from dire straits? The man the Emperor made Daling's only prince with a different surname, and the owner of Fuli Tower, the biggest restaurant chain in Daling?’

“‘Miss, aren't you rich too?’

“‘You don't get it. What's mine is mine. How can that compare to the happiness of having someone else's become mine too?’

“‘Miss, they say he's sickly. If you marry him, you'll probably be a widow before long.’

“‘A sickly man is perfect. Once he kicks the bucket, won't all his wealth belong to me? Then I'll be the richest person in Daling. Just thinking about counting money until my hands ache makes me happy. The Emperor is so generous! For this alone, I'll paint him a Guanyin who blesses people with children right away. When Mother goes to the palace tomorrow, I'll have her take it along. Hahaha... Life is wonderful!’
