Drunk on Beauty: The Peerless Imperial Consort

Bai Jinli is playful and domineering, but no one could have guessed that deep beneath the surface lay a buried hatred. Nalan Chen is bewitchingly handsome and cruel, yet never expected to lose himself one day in the false affection of a princess from a fallen dynasty. Her kingdom is destroyed, her family wiped out, and she is sent into exile. After countless schemes, he takes her as his beloved consort. Her song leaves everyone stunned by her beauty, and she plunges a sword into the Seventh Prince, once her beloved. One glimpse of the face beneath his mask, and he is destined to fall for her all over again. Defying everyone's objections, he keeps her by his side. Once she gains power, she brings turmoil to the court. He makes her his Noble Consort and showers her with boundless affection. His ministers all say that this wicked woman will ruin the country, but he insists on admiring his vast empire with her. The other consorts all say that Consort Li is cruel and cannot tolerate anyone in the harem. He smiles indulgently at her and says, “If you can't stand them, I'll dismiss them all for you.” But in her heart, she still loves and hates the Seventh Prince with all her being. He turns her breathtaking face toward him. “I want to lay every finest thing in the world at your feet. Why can't you forget him?” She smiles seductively. “You destroyed my city of Lingdu and slaughtered tens of thousands of my people. Even if I die, I will never feel the slightest stir for you.” Between us, you need me and I rely on you. We were only using each other. So why did I fall for you, only to leap from the walls of the capital? Glazed tiles and purple-gold walls: all just fleeting illusions. A Li, did you ever love me in this life? Dancing in the Hall of Eternal Life, I fear I'll never again hear a man call me A Li like that.
