Even the granddaughter of a virtuous woman who had lived ten good lives couldn’t escape being mistakenly seized by an underworld reaper. Yan Shutong transmigrated after the King of Hell dumped her in an unknown dynasty. Worse still, she had to share a body with a young man. Could life get any bleaker?
The answer was yes.
Yan Shaozhe, heir to the Duke of Zhenguo’s household in the Xuanyuan Dynasty, eldest legitimate son of the Duke of Cheng’en, the empress’s nephew, and the empress dowager’s grandnephew, was the most privileged man in the capital, loved by everyone. When Shutong transmigrated into his body, her miserable life had only just begun.
She was merely a tenant in his body, and he, the landlord, could bully her as he pleased.
Yan Shutong was speechless. “Hey, sure, I’m staying in your body, but do you have to squeeze every last bit of value out of me? I’m dealing with your stepmother and brothers, keeping Grandmother happy, and making friends. I’m doing all that for you, so what are you doing?”
Yan Shaozhe sneered. “Then why don’t we switch? You can get up in the middle of the night to train, kill people with bad intentions, suffer through beatings, and then face off against the royal family?”
[Scenes]
Scene One:
“Have you heard? The heir to the Duke of Zhenguo’s household has come down with a strange illness. They say it’s called split personality. He’s always talking to himself, sometimes domineering, sometimes gentle.” In a corner, several elegantly dressed young masters huddled together, whispering.
“That’s not all. They say Yan Shaozhe doesn’t like women. He only likes his other personality.” Another man glanced around cautiously before speaking.
“Miss Qin says Yan Shaozhe is a narcissist!” one man chimed in.
A man and a woman sat facing each other on the roof across the way. A violent, chilling aura swirled around the man as he looked up at the woman, a glimmer passing through his eyes. “This is what everyone thinks of me. If you don’t marry me, who else do you think I can marry?”
Scene Two:
“A Zhe, are you really going to do this?” Lan Qingxu stared in shock at the determined Yan Shaozhe before him, as though he were meeting him for the first time. “Have you forgotten everything that happened? Do you really not love her anymore? And do you know how many people will be buried along with her?”
“You know what I’m like. I don’t care whether other people live or die. Just understand this: it’s because I love her that ‘she’ has to die! For her, I wouldn’t hesitate to defy heaven, or even kill it.” Yan Shaozhe knew exactly what Lan Qingxu was thinking, but he wouldn’t explain himself now, nor would he ever explain himself to anyone in this lifetime.
