The Bewitching Eunuch

There are three people she values most in this life:

Her father is stationed at the border.

Her dear sister gets caught up in a murder case.

Her closest friend is chosen as a palace maiden and is about to enter the imperial palace.

As her stepmother, half sister, and assassins hunt her down, she escapes the wolf’s den only to fall into a tiger’s jaws.

She only hopes to reach the heart of power and help them.

But through a twist of fate, she becomes a little eunuch, assigned to everything from sweeping floors to cleaning chamber pots?

So what!

For reporting an assassin, she is promoted to fifth-rank Head Eunuch!

For rescuing a princess, she is promoted to third-rank Eunuch Steward!

For loyally protecting her master, she is promoted to Chief Eunuch!

She writes a tearjerking and heroic tale of a eunuch’s rise through the ranks, passed down and retold by generations to come!

But just as she finally reaches the center of power, the border suffers defeat after defeat. With no other choice, the emperor takes her on a secret trip to the frontier, where her true gender is exposed...

Extra Scene (1): The emperor reviews memorials, while she attends him from the side.

He looks up. “Xiao Baozi, I want lotus soup!”

She flicks her whisk. “Your Majesty, it’s peach blossom soup season right now!”

He insists, “I want lotus soup!”

She smacks him in the face with her whisk. “Eat shit!”

Of course, that was all in her imagination. She was a timid soul. In reality, it went like this:

The emperor: “I want lotus soup!”

She: “Your Majesty, peach blossom soup is in season!”

The emperor, resolute: “I want lotus soup!”

She bends her back. “Yes, Your Majesty. I’ll go make it right away!”

Taking things as they come is her motto. As long as nobody bullies her, she can live anywhere. But, Father, when are you coming back? The emperor took me to the frontier to find you, and accidentally discovered I’m a woman...

Extra Scene (2): The emperor is still reviewing memorials, while she sits nearby in a long dress.

The emperor: “I want lotus soup!”

She picks at her nail polish. “Mm-hmm!”

The emperor: “I said I want lotus soup!”

She looks back over her shoulder and smiles. “Make it yourself!”

The emperor wears a woeful expression for the rest of the day...
