The Princess Consort of Fuxiao

She said,

We are not gods, so we cannot choose where we are born;

We are not gods, but we can choose how we live and how we die.

When they first met, he was a prince of the reigning dynasty, seated high above in the great hall like a god, his eyes fixed only on the teacup before him;

while she knelt on the ground, awaiting punishment from the Ministry of Justice.

They met again in the imperial prison.

He held out his right hand, long-fingered and sharply knuckled.

He said, I'll get you out of here.

She reached out and took his hand.

And her heart stirred...

But she couldn't understand why he had offered to help her after meeting her only once.

Until...

She learned that her identity could help him achieve his ambitions.

She prepared to put all her feelings for him aside.

But then,

an imperial edict decreed that she would become his consort.

You promised that when all the splendor faded, your love would never change,

but later you rode away, leaving one person behind to grieve.

This is not a kind book;

This is not a happy book;

This is not a terrifying book;

But,

Jinxi promises that it has a happy ending.
