This is the story of a neglected, plain-looking daughter of a prime minister and a beautiful, cold-faced regent who start out trying to kill each other and end up in love.
She is Chu Ning, a famous fashion designer from another country. Her best friend murdered her, and she transmigrated to a dynasty in another world.
She planned to live quietly as the plain-looking, overlooked daughter of the prime minister, earn a little money in her spare time, and find romance: holding hands and strolling around, making up for never having had a boyfriend in her previous life. Her days were peaceful enough, but all it took was one good deed on a whim to get her tangled up with someone she should never have crossed!
And so the prime minister’s daughter eloped with her sweetheart.
He is Yan Jinyu, the only prince in the realm with a different surname. Of the hundred members of the Yan general’s family, he is the sole survivor. The emperor admired his peerless beauty, kept him close and cared for him personally, then made him Prince Yan.
He is also the wickedly handsome regent known as the Cold-Faced King of Hell. With black hair and silver eyes, he is peerless in grace, commands the military, and is a master strategist.
He had been a man without heart or feelings, guarding a cold empire, countless descendants, and boundless glory. But fate is hard to predict, and in the end he met the one woman who could undo him. As he fought to win her, he gradually lost sight of his original intentions.
In the end, he embarked on a road of no return: the road to winning his wife back.
A fun excerpt, part one:
Chu Ning lounged in a grand armchair, peeling melon seeds with one hand and accepting fruit from Liang Shaomeng with the other. She was enjoying life to the fullest.
A servant hurried in and shouted, “Bad news, miss! The regent is here. He’s already in the front hall…”
Before the servant could finish, Chu Ning dashed off like the wind.
When Yan Jinyu entered, he saw only Liang Shaomeng lying there. His eyes narrowed. “Where’s Chu Ning?”
Liang Shaomeng glanced at him and said nothing.
Yan Jinyu turned to the servants. “Where is your miss?”
One of them trembled and gave away Chu Ning’s whereabouts. “Over there…”
Yan Jinyu shoved the servant aside. As he passed Liang Shaomeng, he spotted the handkerchief on him. His eyes turned bloodshot. He snatched it up and snarled at the guards behind him, “After her!”
A fun excerpt, part two:
Yan Jinyu: “Chu Ning, to repay you for saving my life, I’ve decided to grant you one favor. Tell me, what do you want?”
Chu Ning lifted her eyelids. This guy was just waiting for her to ask him to marry her, wasn’t he? She wasn’t about to make a bad bargain, so she deliberately said, “Well, Your Highness, I’m a little short on money lately. I can’t even afford to visit the pleasure houses. What do you think?”
Yan Jinyu’s veins bulged. He ground his teeth. “Dream on! I think it’s better to follow the old saying and repay you by offering myself to you!”
“Get lost! I don’t want you, you human ice cube. You’d give me the creeps even just sleeping beside me!”
