Short Scenes:
<School>
“Mr. Liang, do you have a girlfriend?” A few voices called out in unison, nearly making Yan Mo fall off her chair. Sure enough, these little brats had no intention of sticking to the script. It looked like they’d saved this for the end.
“I don’t have a girlfriend, but there is someone I like.”
Liang Fan noticed the department head’s suggestive gaze shifting between the two of them. He glanced at Yan Mo, who was lost in thought beside him, and said calmly, “She’s the one I like.”
<Confession>
His touch startled Yan Mo. After a moment of silence, she smiled bitterly. “You still care about it. So, Liang Fan, don’t come after me again. I’m not good enough for you. You deserve someone better.”
“You silly girl.” Liang Fan sighed softly, then gently wiped away the tears at the corners of Yan Mo’s eyes. He bent down and kissed her cherry-red lips, their lips meeting only briefly before he brushed her cheek and pulled away. Afraid of upsetting her further, Liang Fan drew her into his arms and held her gently. His slender hand stroked her hair as he said quietly, “Yan Mo, I do care. I care that I didn’t meet you before Fan Chen did. I care that he made you sad. I care that it wasn’t me by your side. I care that I didn’t protect you when you were hurting. I care that I missed so many years of your life. But, Yan Mo, I care even more that you keep running away. Even if I can’t live in your heart yet, please don’t reject me. Don’t shut yourself away. I’ve called you so many times. If you hadn’t come today, I might have torn Z University down tomorrow. Even if you don’t choose me, I won’t let you keep running away.” Though I’m confident I’ll be the last man in your heart, Liang Fan added silently.
<The Gu Family Banquet>
Liang Yuan pointed at Yan Mo’s nose in a panic and shouted, “What are you doing? Who gave you the nerve?”
“I did!” A cold voice came from nearby. Liang Fan appeared in a black suit, ignoring the crowd’s surprised and scrutinizing looks. He strode toward Yan Mo, then stopped beside her and glared coldly at Liang Yuan.
<One Day, at a Restaurant>
“President Liang, are you trying to starve me to death?”
Liang Fan was taken aback, then burst into hearty laughter. He rose from the sofa and looked at the woman, who was so hungry she was getting irritable. “How could I bear to?”
