Jingzi's new novel, Reborn: Head-On Clash: http://read.xxsy.net/info/364106.html
Mo Tongwei is a highly capable yet lazy and unreliable modern-day assassin who transmigrates into the Republican era and becomes the military governor of Lin'an. She is the seventh daughter of the former Lin'an military governor, who had been lost to the outside world. A breathtaking beauty, she should have been admired by all, but everyone believes she is a man. They call her Seventh Young Master Mo, and she leads troops into battle. When she transmigrates, she inherits all the grudges and grievances of her new body. Rumor has it that she killed the old governor of the Qingyun Army, and her predicament is positively melodramatic.
Feng Qingyu is the seventh son of the old governor of the Qingyun Army, known as Seventh Young Master Feng. Handsomely beautiful, he is naturally gifted and exceptionally capable. After his father dies, he returns from France to take up the post of governor of the Qingyun Army. His rather absurd ambition is to torment Seventh Young Master Mo of Lin'an for his own amusement. He swears to avenge his father.
The warlords carve up the land, the country is engulfed in conflict, and battle after battle brings slaughter, tangled with old grudges. Who loses sight of the road ahead amid love and hate, setting out on an irreversible path of passion?
Amidst flames and turmoil, he cuts through every obstacle. Petals drift, and their hearts grow confused. Who loses sight of everything in the struggle and falls into the city the other built without meaning to?
In the chaotic Republican era, two handsome Seventh Young Masters are caught in a tangled affair. Who will win, and who will lose? In the end, who will ruin whose beauty, and whose splendid life will be stained by whom?
Excerpt One:
The black muzzle of Seventh Young Master Feng's gun slowly traced Seventh Young Master Mo's delicate features, from her forehead to her brows, her nose, her lips, and her neck, before coming to rest over her heart. He raised a handsome brow and drawled with playful irreverence, “They say Seventh Young Master Mo is a sissy. To me, you look more like a peerless beauty.”
Seventh Young Master Mo smiled lightly. “I never knew the famously woman-loving Seventh Young Master Feng had such a peculiar hobby. Am I a beauty or a man? Why not try me for yourself?”
A faint fragrance wafted over. Cool lips pressed against hers, drinking her in slowly, a touch of chill and a hint of temptation.
Seventh Young Master Mo jolted, then shoved him away and angrily wiped her mouth. “You're a real pervert!”
Seventh Young Master Feng pursed his lips and smiled as if nothing had happened. “I have to say, a man's taste is a little better than a woman's.”
Excerpt Two:
The boisterous crowd bubbled over with excitement. Feng Qingyu, commander of the Qingyun Army, was getting married. It was a perfect match between families: the beloved daughter of a military governor from one of several provinces, a delicate young lady from a military household.
The crowd parted, and the noise fell silent. The newcomer wore a military uniform. Her skin was fair as snow, her brows like distant mountains, and her eyes like stars. A faint smile held countless charms. The firm set of her lips revealed a man's resolve and strength. Her dashing air and understated grace blended together in a striking contradiction, leaving everyone too dazzled even to gasp.
“Feng Qingyu, did you ask me before deciding to get married? If I, Mo Tongwei, don't approve, then the position of Seventh Young Master Feng's wife is mine to claim!”
The crowd gasped and erupted in a fresh uproar. Seventh Young Master Mo, commander of the Lin'an Army, had come to steal Seventh Young Master Feng's bride. This... this was a man marrying a man! How could such a thing be allowed?
Feng Qingyu lazily rubbed his brow, smiling as if nothing could faze him. “Seventh Young Master Mo, you have quite a nerve. When I was clinging to you, you didn't want me. What do you mean by saying this now?”
Mo Tongwei raised a brow, looking thoroughly shameless. She lifted a slender hand and laughed. “Take a good look. You signed the contract selling yourself to me. Are you, the great governor of the Qingyun Army, trying to break your word?”
Feng Qingyu froze, then smiled.
The crowd dispersed, marveling at how morals had declined. Seventh Young Master Mo, a full-grown man, had actually succeeded in stealing the bride.
A pair of narrow eyes peered out from beneath his loose hair, fixed on the person before him. He stepped forward and pulled her into his arms, wholly devoted. He whispered in her ear, “I knew you couldn't bear to hand me over to someone else.” His voice was so tender that she felt as if she were under a spell. She rested against his shoulder, feeling at ease for once.
(Though the story is set in a time of chaos, it has a happy ending, and the couple will stay together for life. The writing is warm and sweet.)
